Instrucciones

Authors should try to confine the text to no more than 20 pages, with a total manuscript length (including figures and tables) of 30 pages. Scripts, including the abstract, footnotes, and reference list, should be typed double spaced and submitted in triplicate. The text must be ready for printing and should have been checked carefully for style and spelling errors.

The essential contents of each paper should be recapitulated briefly in an abstract at the head of the paper. A Conclusions or Summary section at the end of the paper generally is needed only if the text exceeds 20 manuscript pages.

Half-tone illustrations should be kept to a minimum and should accompany the script, as separate sheets. Photographs should be enlarged sufficiently to permit their clear reproduction in half-tone.

Line drawings should include all relevant details, and it is particularly requested that glossy photographic prints be sent with the manuscript, as well as copies for the use of the Editors and referees. Illustrations should usually be made to fit the type area after reduction. Unnecessary detail in a base chart should be avoided. Photos should be printed with at least 300 dpi resolution in the size you want.

Captions for figures should be typed double spaced on a separate sheet.

Tables should be suitable for direct reproduction in the interest of economy and to avoid the introduction of errors. Each should be typed on a separate sheet. The places where they are to appear should be marked in pencil in the text.

In general, metric units should be used, preferably the Systeme International (S.I.). If other units are used (fathoms, °F, etc.), the metric equivalents must be given in parentheses ( ) or by presenting the dimensionally correct conversion factors as a footnote.

References to the published literature should be quoted in the text as follows: Smith (1970), the date of publication, in parentheses, following the author's name. When there are more than two authors, the first author's name and et al., should be used. References should be listed together at the end of the paper, not as footnotes. They should be arranged in alphabetical order (first author's surname) to appear as follows:

Sverdrup, H. U., Johnson, M. W. and Fleming, R. H. (1942) The Oceans: their Physics, Chemistry and General Biology. Prentice-Hall, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

It is particularly requested that (a) author's initials, (b) title of the paper, (c) the volume, and (d) pagination (first and last pages inclusive or total pages of a book, thesis, etc.) be given. The title of the journal should not be abbreviated.

Authors are encouraged to submit the manuscript via e-mail to Jaime Färber-Lorda (jfarber@cicese.mx) in a Word for Windows format, we would prefer or a rich format text file (rft) containing the final version of the paper along with the final manuscript.
